Key Stage 2 tests for 2010 are scheduled for Monday 10th May to Friday 14th May.

Key Stage 2 tests for 2011 are proposed to take place in mid-June.

All children in their final year of Key Stage 2 (Year 6) must be assessed under statutory orders. Part of this assessment are the National Curriculum Tests for English, mathematics and science which are administered during May annually, for all Year 6 pupils. The tests cover National Curriculum Levels 3 to 5.  The week's timetable for these tests are:

Completed test papers are marked externally and results sent back to schools during June/July. National Curriculum Test levels and teacher assessments for individual pupils are reported to parents in July.

National Curriculum Test Levels

Following external marking of the tests, children will be awarded a National Curriculum level of achievement. At age 11 (end of key stage 2) children are compared to his or her own age group:

Level 5:     Beyond expectations
Level 4:     At level expected
Level 2/3:   Below expectations
