Christmas Celebrations: Winter Wonderland Gallery

Description of the gallery:

Reception:  Our youngest children have designed and made tissue paper stained glass windows. They have made observational chalk drawings of dried plants.
Year One: Linked to their theme of ‘On the Move’, the children have painted a variety of vehicles transporting Christmas fare. They have woven colourful ribbons through felt to produce festive weavings. The children have experimented with glass paints to make Christmas lanterns.
Year Two: The children are developing their textile techniques in stitching felt Christmas stockings.
Based on their theme of ‘Fire and Ice’, the children have explored mixing powder colour with vegetable oil to produce ice landscapes. They have also drawn penguins using oil pastels.
Year Three: These children have used mixed media to show parts of a Christmas tree hanging with decorations. They have also made traditional Christingles.
Year Four: Tudor Feasting has inspired Year Fours’ Festive frieze. They have made pastel observational drawings of foods, displayed on low relief platters and goblets. The children have made traditional pomanders with oranges and cloves.

Year Five: Observational plant drawings in mixed media have been compiled to make Yuletide Wreaths. Oil and powder paint has been blended to make winter snow scenes. The children have also used clay to produce Christmas pudding candleholders.
Year Six: Religious Renaissance paintings have been used to inspire year sixes collaborative triptych. (Three part picture)The children have experimented with winter tree mono prints on tissue paper.
