Our cricket club takes place each week after school (3.00-5.00 pm) during the year. The School team plays in a range of different tournaments involving softball and hardball competitions. The team is open to Year 5 and 6 only, because of popular numbers. During season 1998 the team reached the Sussex Finals of the Seeboard Hardball competition which was played at the County Ground, Hove, and they also played at the County Grounds situated at Arundel Castle and Horsham CC. During the 1999 season, the team reached three County Finals (runners-up twice) and a South East England Regional Final finishing in 3rd position overall out of eight competing schools from London, Surrey, Kent and Sussex. In 2001, our team reached the finals of the Arundel Castle Tournament. In total, these have been excellent achievements over the past few years, building up a fine reputation for cricket at Lindfield. In 2007, our team won the Arundel Castle 6-a-side Tournament beating Summerlea School by 21 runs in the final. During the same season the team also reached the County Finals of the Caffyns 11-a-side competition where we finished third beating Thomas A'Beckett School in the 3rd/4th play-offs. These were outstanding achievements at County level. In 2008, our girls' team won the 8 a side Mid-Sussez Primary Schools tournament and went on to finish 3rd out of 16 competing schools at the Sussex County Finals day at the Sussex Academy ground. A mixed boys' and girls' team for the second year in succession reached the County final of the Arundel Castle 6-a-side tournament but this year finished as runners-up. Our boys' team reached the County final of the 8-a-side hardball cricket tournament at Horsham CC but lost to Harlands School to finish as runners-up. However in the Caffyn's Sussex 11-a-side competition our boys' team beat Birchwood Grove, Harlands and The Vale schools to reach the County final where they defeated Thomas A' Beckett School to become County champions at Horsham CC for the first time in the competition's 30 year history. This was a very special achievement for our school and capped a highly successful season for our teams. In 2009, our boys' team again reached the County final of the 8-a-side hardball cricket tournament at Horsham CC beating Greenway School in the final to become Sussex Champions (link to feature in The Argus). Later in the season our girls team finished in 3rd place out of 16 teams in the KWICK crioket County finals, whilst our boys team became County Champions in their KWICK cricket competition (see photo below). Our boys' team also went on to win the 11 a-side Sussex Primary Schools' competition for the second year running (see photo below) to complete a hatrick of wins this season. It was a fantastic achievment for our teams. In 2010, our boys' team won the Masters 11-a-side Sussex Primary Schools' Twenty/20 competition for the third successive year (see photograph below). The girls' team became Mid-Sussex Champions in the Asda 8 a-side KWICK cricket competition going on to finish in third place on the County Finals day out of 12 teams. The team also finished in third place in the Masters 11-a-side Sussex Primary Schools' girls softball cricket competition. Four of our children represented Sussex at cricket this season.
